Café Naranja

We export premium Guatemalan coffee beans through a fair and responsible exchange directly with small local producers and specialty farms.

At Café Naranja, we believe coffee producers are the heart of the industry. Yet, year after year, small farming communities face immense challenges – volatile prices, lack of resources, and limited market access force them to sell their premium beans to middlemen at unjust rates. That’s why we’re on a mission to revolutionize the coffee trade.

Through our direct export model, Café Naranja partners with smallholder growers in Guatemala to ethically source exceptional micro-lots. We pay fair prices that empower these hard-working producers while ensuring coffee lovers worldwide can savor the rich, authentic flavors of our strictly high-grown, hand-picked coffee beans. From farm to roaster, transparency guides our sustainable practices every step of the way.

Mission

Vision

Our Business Model

¿What makes Guatemalan Coffee so special?

Guatemala is characterized by having great natural wealth, considered one of the megadiverse countries in the world, which is due to various factors:

It is located in the Central American isthmus, having the influence of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, with a constant rain pattern during almost the whole year, ideal climatic conditions for the sowing of specialty coffee.

Its topography is diverse, with altitudes from 0 to 4,120 meters above sea level, allowing the planting of strictly hard Arabica coffee (above 1,300 meters above sea level).

Guatemala is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, it has 37 volcanoes, of which four are active, which has made its soils rich in nutrients and minerals.

This has made it possible for Guatemala to have more than 300 microclimates and 13 life zones, which makes us one of the best places in the world to plant different varieties of specialty coffee. Our coffee has unique characteristics, producing the most coveted and sought-after coffees worldwide, being of great economic and cultural importance for the country.

Guatemala has eight coffee-producing regions, classified according to its terroir, each terroir with unique and incomparable qualities:

• Acatenango Valley
Marked acidity, fragrant aroma, balanced body, and a clean and persistent finish.

• Antigua Coffee
Elegant and well balanced with a rich aroma and very sweet taste.

• Traditional Atitlán
Aromatic with bright citric acidity and full body.

• Cobán
With various notes of fresh fruit. Well balanced fine body and pleasant aroma.

• Plateau of Fraijanes
Bright and persistent acidity. Aromatic with a defined body.

• Huehuetenango
Fine and intense acidity with full body and pleasant notes of wine.

• New Oriente
Well balanced and full-bodied, with a chocolate flavor.

• San Marcos
Delicate floral notes, present in aroma and flavor, pronounced acidity and good body.

In addition to the ideal terroir, in Guatemala, our producers cut and select the coffee beans by hand, thus ensuring that each bean has the quality required to achieve the best cup of coffee in every micro lots. In addition, they have innovated in different processes (washed, honey and natural), achieving cup profiles with exquisite aromas, fine acidity, pleasant sweetness and full body, combinations that produce cups with balanced, unique and exotic flavors, to satisfy palates and tastes for every coffee lover.
